Healthy smiles begin at age 7
The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that children aged seven and above have an evaluation with an orthodontist to monitor the development and growth of their teeth.
Dr. Malaga will assess your child’s facial structure to check for balance, symmetry, and proper growth. He will count their teeth, take the necessary X-rays, and provide you with clear guidance on when and how to help your child achieve a healthy smile.
Dr. Malaga wants to ensure every child feels comfortable getting check-ups before the actual treatment is needed. So, we’ve made the whole experience as enjoyable as possible for your child with contests, prizes, and sweet swag.
Regular growth and development exams are important, which is why every visit is free until your child is ready to start treatment!
Observation
The majority of children will fit into this group as we wait for tooth development and eruption. During each check-up visit, which typically occurs every six to nine months, our observation patients are rewarded for great oral hygiene habits, good grades, wearing their Malaga swag and contest participation.
Phase I Braces
Early treatment aims to fix problems with jaw growth, severe underbites, protruding teeth, crossbites, and thumb sucking habits. Early treatment also helps to make room for permanent teeth to come in properly, lessening the chance of extractions in the future if severe crowding is present. Treatment typically involves a palatal expander and braces on key teeth to make space for incoming adult teeth.
